A reminder that FoBHP is hosting a Guided Walk of Cedar Bog Trail THIS SUNDAY. The Guided Walk is an Adopt-a-trail event for members and the general public alike. You'll learn about the history of this unique ecosystem and wonder at the flora and fauna found in the bog. Join us for refreshments and relax around the firepit, even if you're not up to the walk. Door prize courtesy of Gloria Rogalski. We look forward to seeing you! For more information, including a map to the trailhead parking area, visit our NEWS - EVENTS.

Results from May AGM
2008-09 Annual Report now available
FoBHP held its AGM on May 7th, 2009. This year we were pleased to present guest speaker Cheryl Heming who provided insights into the practice of Naturescaping and highlighted the serious impact of invasive species on our environment. See Friends' 2008/09 Annual Report for an outline of our accomplishments and a listing of our sponsors. Congratulations to our doorprize winners: Jan Nylen, Lorraine Doerksen, and Harvey Brandt. Thanks again to the management at STARBUCKS COFFEE, 412 Graham Avenue, for their generous hospitality, and to prize sponsors Petrasko Greenhouses and The Capital Region Urban Habitat Stewardship Project.

8th Annual Park Cleanup and Barbeque a Great Success
And we have Another Winner!
On May 24th a team of 36 Friends enjoyed a beautiful May afternoon in the Park. This annual event provides Friends the opportunity to actively demonstrate responsibility for ecological stewardship and make a contribution that enhances the park experience for everyone who enjoys the outdoors. The clean up was a great success, with a total of 54 garbage bags collected in two hours. An alarming number of cans/bottles were collected by volunteers; Friends is looking for a solution to divert this refuse from landfill in future years. Among those relaxing at the campground store for the traditional BBQ was doorprize winner Andrea Deonaraine. Congratulations Andrea and enjoy your FoBHP T-Shirt! A special thanks also to Helene Sward & Co. for hosting the BBQ.

In collaboration with several founders of FoBHP Art Knight has developed a Brief History of FoBHP. Thanks Art for your efforts to preserve and share the story of our early years.
