Here's a brief update on Friends 2008 work in progress. This message outlines our project and activity plans and the re-launch of our website, offers great Christmas gift options, and provides an opportunity to support your tax-planning needs.

At the 2008 AGM, Friends adopted a new Strategic Plan to guide our activities. The past several months have been energizing and the Board has made exciting and substantial progress focused on key priorities. We are revving up our communication to members to ensure you are kept up-to-date on developments and are provided the opportunity to participate through a range of volunteer positions. With input from our members, the board is busy laying the foundation for significant new projects this year including an adopt-a-trail program and a collaboration with the Park that will boost our leadership efforts on the park recycling program to a new and sustainable level.

To enhance our communication with members and the public, a web-site redevelopment initiative is underway that includes the capacity for e-commerce, timely project updates and electronic maintenance of our corporate record. Visit the site regularly as we develop and post new content in the coming weeks. On that front - and with the Christmas rush upon us - we are pleased to offer a range of gifts available for purchase online! Now you can take care of your shopping, promote participation in the organization, and support your favourite Friends' projects - all from the comfort of your home. As the old year comes to a close many of you are planning your charitable giving. We'd like to remind you that Friends of Birds Hill Park Inc. is a registered charity and able to issue tax receipts for donations. The programs and projects you fund support the conservation and preservation of Birds Hill Park.

Early in the new year you can look forward to entering our photo contest, learning about new opportunities for your involvement, and getting the latest updates on emerging projects. Join us and anticipate an adventurous journey ahead!
